Surrounded by her family, Veronica Lim Yuyitung passed away peacefully in Toronto, Canada, on July 23, 2026, at the age of 91.

Born on January 13, 1935, in Aparri, Cagayan, Philippines, Veronica was the ninth of ten children born to Mariano Lim and Marciana Ho Chian. From an early age, she displayed an extraordinary artistic talent that would become her life’s passion.

A gifted artist, Veronica earned her Fine Arts degree from the University of Santo Tomas, where she received numerous awards for her exceptional paintings. Her work was featured in exhibitions around the world, and she became a highly sought-after portrait artist. Whether through painting or sculpture, every piece she created reflected her remarkable creativity, meticulous craftsmanship, and deep appreciation for beauty.

Veronica was the devoted wife of the late Rizal Yuyitung, with whom she shared a loving partnership for more than 49 years. Her vibrant creativity and passionate spirit perfectly complemented Rizal’s thoughtful and steadfast nature. During the years of martial law in the Philippines, she demonstrated extraordinary courage and resilience, raising their children while tirelessly advocating for the release of her wrongfully imprisoned husband. Independent, strong-willed, and unwavering in her convictions, Veronica was never afraid to stand up for what she believed was right.

Above all, Veronica was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her children and their spouses: Kent and Rosalind, Penn and Brenda, Leah, Tom and Maria, Red, Gayla and Bernie, and Ipi and James; and by her beloved grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, Sam, Celeste, Eric, Alexander, Aidan, Jake, Kiera, William, Ian, Victoria, and Trent. Her warmth, strength, artistic legacy, and generous spirit will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

No immediate service will be held. At a later date, family and friends will gather on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada, to celebrate Veronica’s remarkable life and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean alongside those of her beloved Rizal, allowing them to journey together once more between the places they called home.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, creativity, and courage that will live on through her family, her art, and the many lives she touched.
