NHMFC takes regional housing finance leadership, elected ASMMA Chair for 2027

The National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) has been unanimously elected  Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association (ASMMA) Chair for 2027, marking a significant milestone that reinforces the Philippines’ growing leadership in advancing sustainable housing finance and regional cooperation across Asia.

The election took place during the ASMMA Annual Meeting on June 9, 2026, in Mongolia, where more than 40 delegates from Asia-Pacific member states and partner countries convened to exchange strategic insights on strengthening the secondary mortgage market, promoting green finance initiatives, and expanding regional collaboration in housing finance.   NHMFC’s 3-member delegation was led by OIC Executive Vice President Atty. Victor Allan Hilao.

NHMFC President Renato L. Tobias described the unanimous election as a strong vote of confidence in the Corporation’s continuing efforts to advance housing finance innovation and promote regional cooperation.

“Our election as ASMMA Chair reflects the trust and  confidence of our regional counterparts in NHMFC’s contributions to housing finance innovation.  This leadership role enables National Home Mortgage to foster stronger regional partnerships, exchange best practices and  help shape the future of housing finance across Asia,” President Tobias said.

As incoming Chair of ASMMA, NHMFC will host the 2027 ASMMA Annual Conference in the Philippines.  The conference, with the schedule to be announced at a later date, will bring together housing finance institutions, policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders from across the region to discuss emerging trends, share knowledge, and explore innovative solutions for expanding housing finance.

President Tobias further emphasized that the chairmanship will also provide an international platform to showcase the Philippines’ initiatives in strengthening the secondary mortgage market and advancing resilient, inclusive and sustainable housing.

“As ASMMA Chair, we look forward to the furtherance of our commitment to foster a more dynamic and resilient housing finance ecosystem through stronger international cooperation, knowledge-sharing programs, and exchange of innovative solutions ” President Tobias stressed.

The Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association (ASMMA) is a non-profit, member-driven network of secondary mortgage institutions across Asia.
