Innovation took center stage as Weichai formally unveiled its latest breakthrough, the WP11A Engine, during the event launch that was held at Quezon Memorial Circle on April 24, 2025. The event is a collaboration with Weichai, Sinotruk and Powertrac.

Guests and executives were charged with anticipation, as this was more than a product launch; it was a statement of intent. This event highlighted the company’s continued push toward engineering excellence, sustainability, and performance in an increasingly demanding global market.

It started with opening remarks of the Chairperson for Urban Development in Quezon City, Hon. Atty. Vicente Belmonte Jr., followed by Weichai, Sinotruk, and Powertrac executives, to properly introduce the companies that collaborated in this grand launching of the WP11A engine. At the heart of the event was the official unveiling—a moment of collective pause from the audience. As the cover lifted, the WP11A stood as both a product and a symbol of the culmination of years of research, innovation, and precision engineering.

The Weichai WP11A Engine represents a new generation of mechanical pump technology

developed exclusively for Sinotruk. Designed with both performance and practicality in mind, the engine stands out for its improved fuel efficiency, reliable build quality, and ability to adapt to a wide range of operating environments.

One of its most notable strengths is its fuel efficiency. The WP11A can reach a minimum fuel consumption rate of as low as 180 g/kWh. In real-world conditions, vehicles equipped with this engine consume around 2 liters less fuel per 100 kilometers compared to many mainstream competitors, making it a cost-effective choice for long-haul and heavy-duty operations.

This efficiency is made possible by four key technologies working together. First, the efficient combustion system increases knock pressure, helping reduce fuel consumption by about 2%. Second, the high-efficiency fuel injection system improves injection pressure, contributing an additional 1% reduction. Third, the optimized intake and exhaust system, supported by a high-efficiency supercharger, further lowers fuel use by another 1%. Lastly, the use of low-energy component technology, such as low-power water and oil pumps, adds another 1% in fuel savings.

Together, these innovations reflect a thoughtful engineering approach, where every component plays a role in delivering better performance, lower costs, and greater efficiency on the road. More than just technical upgrades, these advancements signal a broader commitment to sustainability and operational reliability. The launch also underscored Weichai’s growing influence in the global market as they combine innovation with strategic partnerships.

Ms. Shaina Magtalas, the Operation Manager, stated that WP11A collaborates with Sinotruk and ensures its performance and reliability as it was designed for heavy-duty applications and diverse environments globally.
