REP. JOEL CHUA, MAYOR ISKO MORENO SMOKE THE PEACE PIPE

ALL’s well that ends well.
Manila third district Congressman Joel Chua and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno have smoked the peace pipe over the weekend, following months of political rift.
It was learned that a common friend had brokered the reconciliation meeting that took place at around 2 p.m. on Saturday at the mayor’s office and lasted for over an hour.
When Chua arrived with the said common friend, Congressmen Irwin Tieng and Ernix Dionisio were there and altogether, they had a chitchat.
According to a witness, the meeting was very cordial as Chua and Moreno shook hands and no longer talked about what had happened between the two of them in the past.
“We simply let bygones be bygones. Para sa kapanatagan ng ating distrito, minarapat po namin na mag-usap at isantabi ang mga hindi pagkakaunawaan. Kami ay magtutulungan para sa mga batang Maynila,” said Chua.
In his social media post meanwhile, Moreno said that the three Congressmen presented their respective initiatives in their district and is grateful to them.
Both Chua and Moreno expressed commitment to deliver the best possible services for the residents of Manila through collaborative efforts between the national and local governments.
The two were longtime political allies, but parted ways when Chua ran and won under the ticket of then Mayor Honey Lacuna during the May 2025 elections. (MARISA SON)
