TINATAYANG aabot sa P366 milyong halaga ng ibat-ibang uri ng hinihinalang smuggled luxury cars ang nakumpiska ng Bureau of Customs sa isinagawang operasyon nito sa isang car showroom sa Makati City kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng Araw ng mga Puso.

Isinagawa ang operation sa ng BOC sa ilalim ng sangay ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service ng Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) kung saan nabisto nila ang may 16 na luxury cars kabilang ang  isang motorsiklo na nasa loob ng showroom ng ACH High-End Motor Service Center sa No. 489 J.P. Rizal St. Makati City.

Sa paunang imbentaryo, nabunyag ang ibat-ibang uri ng luxury cars na kinabibilangan ng Ferrari 488 Spider, Ferrari 812 Super fast, Porsche Targa, Mercedes Benz G63 AMG, BMW M4, Lexus LC500, Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, Land Rover Defender, Audi RS Q8, MacLaren 720S, Ford Explorer, LI Xiang L7 SUV, Abarth 595 Competizione,  dalawang (2) Toyota Alphard  at MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR Motorcycle.

Kinumpirma naman ni  CIIS Director Verne Enciso na binisita ng kanilang team sa pamumuno ni CIIS chief Alvin Enciso kasama ang Philippine Coast Guard’s Task Force Aduana, ang nasabing car showroom upang maghain ng Letter of Authority (LOA)  sa may-ari nito at maberipika kung legal ang mga papeles sa pag import nito at nakapagbayad ng tamang tax sa gobyerno.

“I can confirm  that  our intelligence agents conducted an operation after receiving information regarding the showroom in Makati. We discovered  several high end luxury cars  and are currently verifying the importation documents  for these vehicles,” ayon kay  Enciso.

Pinangunahan ni CIIS-MICP Chief Alvin Enciso  ang paglalagay  ng pansamantalang padlock at selyo sa showroom at storage facility para sa  pagsasagawa ng proper inventory ng mga naka-assign na Customs examiners sa harap ng CIIS,  Enforcement and Security Services (ESS), barangay officials at storage representative.

Ayon pa kay Enciso, may 15 araw na palugit ang owners, lessees, lessors, occupants, representatives or any parties para magsumite ng mga dokumento na nagpapatunay na nakapagbayad sila ng
tamang duties at taxes sa gobyerno.

Sasampahan sila ng kaso dahil sa paglabag sa  Sections 1400 at 1401 in relation to Section  1113 of Republic Act 10863 na kilala bilang Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA)  kapag hindi sila nakapagsumite ng tamang  dokumento. (MARISA SON)
