HILTON VERSUS MARRIOTT HOTELS
My family recently had the pleasure of staying at two of the world’s topmost hotels, the renowned Hilton and Marriott Hotels, for a total of four days, courtesy of my dear family friend, Zenaida Gutierrez.
Our adventure began with a day at Hilton Manila. After a few days, we spent four days at the Marriott Hotel. Accompanying me were my daughter, her two sons, and their caregiver Elmie. While I anticipated some leisure time after Congress recessed, work and school obligations kept me occupied.
The happiness of the two boys were our top priority, of course. Both brothers, Liam and Leonn, loved swimming at any pool they could find, even makeshift swimming pools at their Tita Lola Jennie’s house, together with their cousins, and could not even get enough of the swimming pool in the village where we reside. Liam, the older of the two at five years old, had an insatiable love for swimming, evident in his sun-kissed complexion from countless hours spent in various pools.
Upon learning of our impending vacation, Liam leaped with joy and eagerly counted the days until our departure for the hotels.
After spending one night at Hilton and three nights at Marriott, Liam was asked which hotel he preferred. His response was a diplomatic “Hilton and Marriott!”
From a professional perspective, I observed distinct advantages to each hotel. Hilton, being relatively new, boasted immaculate and elegant rooms, while Marriott’s rooms appeared slightly dated, with noticeable imperfections in construction and facilities. In terms of room quality, Hilton undoubtedly had the edge.
The kids also favored Hilton’s swimming pools, although they are open only until 8:00 in the evening, while Marriott’s are open until 10:00 p.m.
Marriott’s advantage also lies in its welcoming lobby with numerous lounges. There is also an art gallery overlooking the scenic Villamor Golf Club where I have played a number of times.
Hilton and Marriott Hotels offer exceptional experiences, each with its unique charms. While Hilton excels in modernity and room quality, Marriott captivates with its inviting lobby and artistic touches.
As our stay drew to a close, leaving the hotel proved to be bittersweet. Liam’s reluctance to leave mirrored our collective sentiment—a desire to prolong the enchanting experience. Alas, all good things must come to an end, but the memories created will forever be cherished. Thanks to my dear friend and sister Zenaida for making this happen.
